Our cottage
- located just a five-minute walk from the Gulf of Mexico - is on a
dead-end street that has about 14 houses.
The view
from the back porch is of a pond, whose fresh water comes from the Sanibel
River, and in the distance you can occasionally see a golfer on one of the
many Island golf courses.
The cottage has
2 1/2 bedrooms and two baths - plus a queen-sized sleep sofa in the living
room (sleeps 6). Our retreat home
comes complete with everything to make your stay memorable. |

Sanibel Island - reached by a ferry until 1963, has soft,
powdery beaches, incomparable shelling, abundant wildlife, miles of scenic
bike paths and spectacular sunsets.
Welcome to our little corner of
Paradise! |
|
Sanibel is the most beautiful and unique barrier island in the
east. Old island ambiance, lush tropical growth and hundreds of
different birds provide an enchanting seaside setting. Sanibel is a
different world. The Island itself is comprised of 63% land that is
set aside for the environment, and one of the most popular Federal Parks
is on the island - Ding Darling Sanctuary. |
|
History says that
pirates found Sanibel and its sister island, Captiva, in the 1700's. Tales of pirates - Lafitte, Blackbeard, Black Caesar
(his home was on the island), and Jose Gasparilla, kept female prisoners
on Captiva Island.
Our Island boasts of a
wealth of activities. Stroll our beautiful sun-soaked beaches or
bike/walk/skate along paved paths. Hunt for a souvenir
shell or swim in our clear blue-green waters. If you're an exercise
enthusiast, the recreation area (free to all) boasts of a 5-lane Olympic
pool, gymnasium and exercise room. Paddle through the mangrove, or
visit our museums and refuge or shop in our wide array of boutiques and
galleries. Dine at delectable restaurants or enjoy a picnic lunch.
Try one of our live performances at one of the Island theaters.
Sanibel is a Mecca for nature enthusiasts. There are 7,000 acres of
sanctuaries which provide a balance between development and pristine
wetlands. It is a pristine ecological haven with talcum powder
beaches, an abundance of wildlife, exceptional shelling, and the sun
drenched waters of the Gulf of Mexico. |
 |
| When your stay is done, you will probably have the "Sanibel Stoop" from
too much shelling. You may have been seduced by the slow pace, the
harmony with nature, and learned to live with the majority population:
alligators, osprey, sea turtles, egrets, ibis, heron, woodpeckers, many
species of fish - and you may have become oblivious to the outside world! |
Available June 1 through September 15
The cottage is located at
1318 Junonia Street
